Layla Marcelle (b. 1986) is an american artist engaged with ceramics, choreography, writing, image-making, object-making, materialism, contradiction, homonyms and other doubles, pedagogy, sci-fi and aesthetics of pleasure. She’s done innovative work with the burgeoning love-intergalac-tech industry and performs irregularly as a hologram of Linda Fox. In 2016 she started an anti-entropy design company with Jacob Raeder called Better Lovers, where they apply contemporary dance methodologies to object-making. Her education includes professional contemporary dance training with Modus Operandi, a BA(philosophy) + BFA from Alfred University, an MFA from Simon Fraser University, and training at the SNDO, P.A.R.T.S., and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Currently Layla is pursuing the graduate program in Ceramics at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. She is also ½ of The Party.
